New market energising Angaston’s streets

Angaston’s streets are set to become livelier when the first Angaston Markets begin next month.

The idea for the markets came about a year ago when friends, Pauline Hakala and Jannine Moar, along with their husbands, were thinking about what would benefit the area.

Pauline and Jannine are both in the hospitality industry and have noticed a gap in the market for visitors who are not in the area for wine.

“People have been asking what there is to do on a Sunday afternoon so we’ve tapped into that and we thought we’d aim for the top,” Pauline said.

Pauline said they would be encouraging tourists and locals to come out to for a bite to eat, a spot of shopping and hopefully a visit to the main street.

“We’re hoping people will come in and then go to the main street because there’s so much here.”

The pair has been receiving positive feedback about the market, with people saying there is nothing like it in the area already.
